What is Artinbook?

Artinbook™ (pronounced "art in book") is owned by the Cashierbook Sdn Bhd company. Here, we believe that art can be in any form and they are meant to be appreciated with value! Artinbook offers art in a wide range of prices and artists worldwide. Yet, our team works hard to provide a safe place to trade with transparency and equity in the art market. Let us be a part of you to build, collect and discover art.

Who can be an artist on Artinbook and how do you choose the artworks to sell?

Our artists are carefully selected based on advice from our partners. At the moment, we only deal with local artists from Malaysia, but we will be expanding shortly. The artworks submitted by artists need to meet minimum guidelines and don't violate any rules to be accepted.

How do I know if the artworks on Artinbook are authentic?

Real art painted by real artists, secured with blockchain technology. Artworks go straight from the artist's studio directly to your doorstep. Make sure to check the artwork details by scanning the Cashierbook Sticker placed behind the artwork. You will also receive a certificate of authenticity. Artists themselves stick their Cashierbook Stickers, so as long as a Cashierbook Sticker is in place, the artwork is authentic.

Services we offer

What service does Artinbook provide?

Our primary service is to connect original artworks with art lovers. We arrange delivery of artwork from the artist straight to your address. What's unique about our service is our provenance system. Every sold artwork on Artinbook is recorded into blockchain, so ownerships are recorded.

Why aren't all works on Artinbook available for purchase?

Artists cannot guarantee that artworks are always available, because the artwork could be in the midst of an external contract or a sale. Unavailable for sale artworks could also mean that the collector is not ready to sell it. PS.: You can try to get it through a "private offer" from the member's collection.

Do you provide frames and prints for artworks?

Artinbook value real art from real artists, therefore we do not provide prints. Only photography art, new media art and digital art comes with an A.P. (Artist Proof) print, and there's only (1) printed copy. Frame services are not available at the moment, but we will expand into this in the near future.

I can't find what I want. Can I request a commission work?

Commission work is available with Artinbook, either we recommend the suitable artist or you can pick your preferred artist to work on your commissioned work.

If you are interested for commission work, the steps will be as below:


  1. Tell us how and what you want.
  2. Provide us your budget.
  3. We will advise on the additional charges for delivery & insurance with our quote in reply.
  4. If you're happy with the quote and proposed artwork (in some cases, subject to artist and collector). We will kick start the work with a 50% deposit (non-refundable) for the process to commence.
  5. Once the artwork is near to completion, we will share photos of the artwork for your approval. You can submit one (1) round of changes, suggestions or tweaks if necessary.
  6. Upon completion, clear off the remaining 50% balance.
  7. Artinbook will register the artwork into the system and provide the Cashierbook sticker for security & protection towards the artwork.
  8. After that, we will carefully deliver the artwork to you.

May I see the artwork in real life before purchasing?

Artworks are kept by the artists and we practice privacy protection. Artinbook will assist on behalf of both the artist and you if there are any questions.

Exhibition is the only time that real artwork will be displayed for real life viewing.

Do you offer consultations for collectors?

Artinbook consultants are just a click away to advise and assist you on art selections that suit your taste. We will offer a personalised selection of works chosen especially for you.

Buying art with Artinbook

How do I make a purchase?

Firstly, you'll need to create a Collector account with us. See how to sign up as an art Collector here.

  1. Orders on Artinbook operate on a request basis. A genuine interested buyer will click on "request to buy" to show interest.
  2. The artwork's Artist will need to confirm the artwork's availability to sell.
  3. The collector will be asked to make full payment to secure the artwork.
  4. Now, the collector just needs to wait for the artwork to be shipped to its specified delivery address.
  5. Upon arrival of the artwork, the collector needs to scan the Cashierbook Sticker located behind the artwork within 30 working days to signify acceptance or rejection. (If this action is not done within the time period, the artwork will be automatically accepted, and returns can no longer be made).
  6. Congratulations, you've made a successful purchase!

Does the image on your site accurately represent what I will be sent?

The image of the real artwork colours may be 10-20% different compared to what we see from the site. This is due to the screen colour projections of our devices and colour captured by the camera.

How accurate are the item dimensions and weight listed on your website?

Artinbook encourage our artists to keep their inventory up-to-date as possible. However, these updates are not automatic and artists/owners may take a few days to update the latest weight due to add-on or change art frame. If the work you purchased are in different weight, you can update accordingly in Artinbook as a new owner upon receiving it.

I don't have a large budget, can I still collect art?

Artinbook features a wide range of artworks that suit all budgets and projects. There will surely be a piece that suits your taste and budget.

Shipping and Delivery

How will my order be delivered?

Your order will be directly dropped-off at the specified delivery address. Delivery process may take up to 2-3 weeks upon full payment depending on location. Your order will be safely packed by artist and all orders are fully insured. Enclosed, you will receive:

  1. your ordered artwork with a Cashierbook Sticker stuck behind it;
  2. your receipt;
  3. and a certificate of authenticity.

Can I pick up the artwork at Cashierbook office?

Cashierbook does not provide you with a self-service delivery location to pick up your orders.

Do I need to pay for taxes or customs fees?

In some cases, collectors will pay taxes and customs fees on artwork they purchase, depending on their country of residence as well as the country the artwork is shipping from.

What if my delivery address is outside of Malaysia?

We deliver everywhere, in all countries that our delivery companies operate in or even on area that does not operate - We will be able to find a solution for delivery for you!
(Additional delivery cost may occur).


Country customs fee and/or duties and/or taxes are not inclusive in the rate

Who bears the shipping fee to return the artwork to the seller?

Artinbook will examine all returns on a case-by-case basis in order to determine who is responsible for paying all costs (shipping and customs) required to deliver the artwork back to the artist. Generally, if we determine that the artwork was accurately described on our site (in terms of size, materials used, weight, etc.) and the collector is returning it as a result of buyer's remorse, then the collector is held responsible and not allowed to return.

If we conclude that the artist misrepresented the work (either in the photograph or in the description), failed to disclose important information about the work, or if the artwork was damaged as a result of poor packaging, the collector will not be responsible for shipping costs.

Returns and Refunds

What are the requirements to apply for a refund?

Only damaged artwork or artwork that look different (more than 20%) in terms of colours and image are allowed for a refund.

How do I apply for a refund?

Upon receiving the artwork, scan the Cashierbook Sticker with your phone (turn on NFC scanner). Here, you will be asked if you accept the order or reject it. Select "reject" to apply for a refund. You'll be required to tell us your reasons for rejecting. Refunds are subject to our return and refund policy. We will review your request case-by-case and get back to you as soon as possible.

You will be notified through the app and email if you have a refund. If you made the payment using bank transfer, online banking or your credit / debit card, Cashierbook will refund the payment back to your card within 7-14 working days.

Will I be refunded with my shipping fee for returns and refunds?

Yes, shipping fee is included and will be returned back to the collector.

How do I report a problem for an artwork?

You may select the chat box option to chat with our customer service (mon-fri, 9.00am - 5.30pm) or you can write us a message here on your encounters and we will get in touch with you as soon as possible.

Payments

How do I make a payment using a credit / debit card? Is it safe?

  1. During checkout, you will be able to choose a payment option after confirming your address and shipping method.
  2. Select payment using credit / debit card.
  3. Rest assured that your credit card information is kept safe and confidential with our service provider.

What forms of payments does Artinbook accept?

Artinbook accepts Credit/Debit cards (Mastercard, Visa, UnionPay) as well as various e-wallet payments and FPX bank transfer.

When will my credit card be billed?

When you make an online payment to Artinbook, we receive pre-validation from your bank which confirms that the money is available in your account. Banks generally hold this money in your account until the final part of the payment process, but rules vary. Check with your bank to find out more.

Cashierbook Sticker and Key

What is a Cashierbook Key?

A Cashierbook Key is a code that is unique to each account. It is required for every transaction. Only you have this code. Artinbook doesn't keep this. Which is why it is very important for you to print, download and back it up for your own reference.

How do I use the Cashierbook key?

When you make a purchase or a sale through our site, you will be prompted to enter your Cashierbook key. Without this key, you won't be able to receive or release the item. You can upload the key.txt file, scan the QR code using your mobile device, or simply use the text field to enter your key.

Why Cashierbook key?

We believe any item that doesn't belong to us should not be kept with us. Hence, any item that belongs to you is fully in your responsibility through this unique code.

What is the "Cashierbook Key Mode" in security settings?

If checked, you will be asked to provide your Cashierbook Key to complete transactions. To do this, you need to upload your Cashierbook Key file.

However, if unchecked, your Cashierbook Key will be stored in your browser's cookies. This means that you won't need to upload your Cashierbook Key file every time you make a transaction. This mode is less secure, because anyone who has access to your account on your computer can make transactions.

I've lost my Cashierbook key, what should I do?

  • We will not keep any private information of your account. It is your responsibility to save and back up all your Cashierbook Key.
  • We can not replace your cashierbook key.
  • You're not allowed to make anymore transactions on Artinbook.
  • The artworks you own are still yours.
  • There's nothing we can do to help you recover your Cashierbook Key. If you'd like to buy new artworks, the best thing you can do is to create a new account.

Account and Settings

I registered for a new account on Artinbook, but did not receive an email confirmation. What should I do?

Please allow 2-3 minutes to receive your email verification. Remember to check your junk/spam folder as your email may have been mistakenly moved there. If there's still no email, don't hesitate to contact us!

Can I change between a collector and artist account?

If you already have a collector account, you may apply to have an artist account. Standard application procedures still apply. If you have an artist account, you may not change it to a collector account.

How do I apply as an Artist?

If you would like to sell Art pieces on Artinbook, you need to sign up as an Artist. Follow the steps below to apply.

  1. Click Sign Up in the top right corner of our page.
  2. Select I am an Artist.
  3. Complete the basic details with your email address.
  4. Check your email and verify your account.
  5. Log in and fill up form with Identity Card Number (IC/ID No.).
  6. Select Yes for Will you be selling with us?
  7. Complete the forms with SSM details and artist profile.
  8. Download Cashierbook Key and store it safely.
  9. Wait for application to be approved.
  10. Congrats! Your account is created and you can submit new artworks!

Required documents include:

  • Your Full Name and Identity Card Number (IC/ID No.)
  • A user video verification (to ensure is not robot)
  • Your bank account details (bank holder name, bank name and account number)
  • Your artist portfolio
  • SSM certificate pdf file
  • If you are under 18 years old, all of the above documents are required of your guardian

How do I sign up as a Collector?

You have to sign up as a Collector to make purchases on Artinbook. Follow the steps below to sign up.

  1. Click Sign Up in the top right corner of our page.
  2. Select I am a Collector.
  3. Complete the basic details with your email address.
  4. Check your email and verify your account.
  5. Log in and Complete the forms.
  6. Select No for Will you be selling with us?
  7. Download your Cashierbook Key and store it safely.
  8. Congrats! Your account is created.

Requirements include:

  • Your Full Name and Identity Card Number (IC/ID No.)
  • Your bank account details (bank holder name, bank name and account number)

I am both an Artist and a Collector. Which account do I create?

If you'd like to sell your own original artwork, as well as buy artwork from other artists, please create an Artist account. You can create an Artist account by clicking here.

Can I sign up for multiple accounts? Can I access Artinbook on multiple devices?

Each member is only allowed to register for one (1) account with Artinbook.

Yes, you can login to your account on multiple devices at the same time - your favourites, follows, listings and purchases will be synced.

How do I change my registered email address?

A registered email address is unable to be changed once submitted.

How do I change the currency?

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the page.
  2. There is an option to choose between "Malaysian Ringgit" and "US Dollars".
  3. Choose on your preferred rate.

FAQ for Artists

Can buyers contact me with questions about an item?

Artinbook will act on behalf to collect the questions from the buyers and post it to you for a detailed reply.

How do I submit a new artwork?

  1. Click on "Submit New Art" on the top left corner of the page.
  2. Fill in all the required details about the artwork and click submit.
  3. Upload pictures of the art / Upload documents and click submit.
  4. Wait for approval of artwork submission from Artinbook.

What happens after someone has bought my Art?

  1. You will have to reject the buyer's request.
  2. Buyer will be notified of the acceptance / rejection*.

    *You are required to give a reason for rejecting.

  3. Buyer will make full payment to secure the artwork.
  4. You will receive a Cashierbook Sticker, and instructions to follow to continue your sale.
  5. This includes, packing and setting a pick-up date for your artwork to be delivered.
  6. You will only be paid after successful delivery.

What happens to the rights of my work? Do I still own the rights to my content?

The rights of the work belongs to the artist if it wasn't sold. Once the artist sold the artwork, the ownership rights will be transferred to the new buyer.

Who can sell on Artinbook? Should I sell my work? Can I buy my own products?

Artists and Collector can sell genuine/original artwork in Artinbook. It's upon your own choice whether to sell or not sell the artwork in Artinbook, but you are not allowed to buy your own products.

Can I sell my art elsewhere?

You have a free choice to sell your art elsewhere, but Artinbook will not provide our security features to secure and protect your ownership and value of the artwork.

Do I need to sign my artwork?

We will advise all artwork to be signed as a proof of originality from the artist hands.

What happens if someone requested to buy my Art, but I've already sold my Art outside of Artinbook?

You will have to reject the buyer's request.
